Since our childhood days we have dreamt of flying high like a bird. However it is not possible to grow wings in a human body. But we do have the opportunity of controlling a flying machine that imitates a bird. The Ornithopter flies by flapping its ‘wings’. The design of the machine varies in the kind of bird it seeks to imitate. Ornithopters that imitate the huge eagles are available and also available are the ones that imitate the small humming birds or dragonflies and look like them, just that the activity is artificial.

The wings of a radio controlled Ornithopter driven by a small electric motor that responds to the hand held motors. Flying the Ornithopter is an exciting outdoor activity but it may sometimes attract birds of prey and cats to try and crush the device. Sometimes other curious birds or insects would follow the artificial flying machine.
